Morana the ancient Slavic goddess of winter, death, and rebirth, was a central figure in pre-Christian mythology. She embodied the harshness of the cold season and the inevitable cycle of life’s end, yet also symbolized renewal and the coming of spring. Often portrayed as a tall, pale woman with long black hair and a stern gaze, Morana was both feared and respected. In Slavic traditions, effigies of Morana were burned or drowned at the end of winter, marking the triumph of warmth and light over darkness and frost. Her image has survived in folk customs and seasonal rituals across Eastern Europe.
Our Morana statue is made of oak hardwood by hands of skilled Norse artisans. The statue is covered with natural wax oil to keep it more authentic. Check out other oak statues: Perun, Svarog, Thor and Frigg.
