Pan was the rustic Greek god of the wild, shepherds, flocks, and music. He was depicted as a half-man, half-goat figure with the legs, horns, and beard of a goat. His attributes included the pan flute (syrinx), shepherd’s staff, and pine branches. Pan roamed mountains and forests, playing music that could inspire joy or fear, and was often associated with nature spirits and fertility. In classical sculpture and fresco, he was usually depicted nude or semi-nude, dancing or playing his flute in natural settings.
Our Pan figurine is made of oak hardwood by hands of skilled European carvers. The statue is covered with natural oil wax to keep it older style. Check out other oak statues: Apollo statue, Helios statue, and Hestia statue.
